The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is planning to introduce a night-time trading venue in the first half of 2027, according to a report by the Financial Times. This new trading platform will operate separately from the LSE's main market and will run from 5:00 pm to 7:50 am London time. Initially, it will offer access to exchange-traded products that track markets such as the UK or US stock market.

The main LSE market will maintain its current operating hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. LSE CEO Julia Hoggett highlighted to the Financial Times that there is growing demand from retail traders to use London’s timezone to access not only UK assets but also global assets. This move reflects an effort by the LSE to keep pace with evolving market needs as traditional exchanges face heightened competition from crypto markets and platforms offering tokenized equities with near-24-hour trading.
