The integration follows USDU's broader distribution efforts, including support from Zodia Custody for institutional clients and a liquidity pool on Uniswap launched in August.
Four out of five candidates supported by the cryptocurrency-aligned PACs Fairshake, Protect Progress, and Defend American Jobs won their primaries or advanced in the US states of Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming, with the PACs spending approximately $3.6 million on races there, according to Cointelegraph. Despite these wins, Democrat Oliver Gilbert, who was targeted by more than $2 million in negative ads, secured victory in Florida's 24th congressional district, a race addressing the influence of the crypto industry. The PAC reported holding a war chest of $193 million as of January and spent over $82 million on races ahead of the 2026 midterm elections to support pro-crypto candidates. The outcome of these elections could influence the makeup of Congress and impact legislation such as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to establish comprehensive regulations for digital assets.
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced consent orders against former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison and FTX co-founder Zixiao “Gary” Wang, imposing a five-year trading ban on both and additional registration bans (10 years for Ellison and eight years for Wang). The orders, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, require their continued cooperation with the CFTC and resolve agency enforcement actions against them, which also involve their roles in allegations of fraud related to Alameda and FTX. The CFTC’s enforcement director stated that the sanctions reflect their material assistance in ongoing investigations. These actions are part of broader legal proceedings, including the indictment of Ellison, Wang, and others on fraud charges connected to the misuse of customer funds at FTX.

Recent data suggests that the "crack" spread—the difference between diesel and crude oil prices—has surged to a record $102.20 per barrel, driven by disruptions from conflicts in Iran and Ukraine and seasonal demand for agricultural fuel. This increase in oil product prices could contribute to higher inflation, affecting sectors like agriculture, shipping, and trucking. While oil prices have retreated from the highs of the second quarter and crude may be due for a bounce, ongoing supply disruptions continue to influence the market. Additionally, the U.S. Dollar Index fell to a two-and-a-half-month low, which has historically supported bitcoin, though the overall market remains influenced by multiple opposing factors.

According to CoinDesk, $57,000 is a crucial liquidation level for bitcoin's leveraged long positions, as a drop to this level could trigger significant liquidations due to thin liquidity and large open contracts, potentially leading to a sharper decline in prices. Traders holding bullish futures bets are particularly at risk if bitcoin falls below this threshold, which could cause a wave of forced closures of leveraged positions. Despite this downside risk, bitcoin is currently trading near $64,000 and showing signs of a potential inverse head-and-shoulders pattern that might suggest a bullish rally towards $76,000. The market's resilience above $62,000 amid macroeconomic tensions has also been noted as indicating a possible bullish phase.
